Warning :: Gratuitous Self Promotion Follows

I listen to the Morning X (hosted by Jason and Deb) on 101X (101.5 FM, KROX) just about every morning, sometimes even when I am on the road (thanks to their iPhone App).

This morning, they were doing their usual bits and during the news they started talking about how Reggie Bush will have his Heisman award revoked. Deb started talking about how she would make a lamp out of the Heisman trophy.

This reminded me that I had once hung my keys on Ricky Williams’ Heisman, that time his mom let me take it home. So I sent them a text message and much to my surprise I got a response back (hadn’t gotten a response back before).

They gave me a call and put me on air. (MP3 Clip) [Note: I hate the way I sound when I hear myself on a recording, I wonder if others feels this way too?]

I love when Jason says “It (Heisman) doesn’t go on slumber parties.”

The Intern asked if they could use some pictures from my blog. (scroll down a bit to see the one of the Heisman on the mantle)

In return for being on air, they gave me two passes to a sneak peek of the new Resident Evil movie, Gina’s favorite zombie franchise. So tomorrow we will be headed down south (the theatre is on I-35 in South Austin).

What man? Da Heisman!

From the date that my old Mavica placed on these pics, the year was 2001 and the month was September. Sandy Williams, the mother of Ricky Williams had brought in his Heisman. I was working at Simplified Development and took the opportunity to take a few quick snapshots of the trophy.

I also was permitted to take the trophy home overnight. Yup, that is the trophy sitting up on my (old) fireplace mantle. I remember that I hung my keys on his outstretched hand, but doesn’t look like I snapped a pic of that. I mean, if I had won the trophy, that is what I would do. Just being honest.

And last but not least, the pic that made me think about writing this little post. Yup that is me, wearing my beloved Baja and hold the Heisman, doing my best to imitate the little bronze man who I am at this point am holding like a football. (Well, sort of.)
